The Battle For Wesnoth is a free turn based strategy game with an epic fantasy theme. Wesnoth has its own history and geography to make it more interesting and believable.

The story is rather brief but the general idea of the game is to regain the throne of Wesnoth of which your character is the heir to. To achieve this you need to build up your armies and fight through the epic campaign.

The Battle for Wesnoth has many features. For starters there are over 200 units to choose from, 16 races such as  human, elves, dwarves and orcs and 6 factions. Apart from the main compaign it is also possible to download extra scenarios and campaigns. If you are feeling creative then you can try your hand at creating your own units, maps scenarios and campaigns and even contributing for other players to have a go at.

If you tire of the single player games or are not interested in creating your own maps, etc, then there are also multiplayer options including internet play.

There is so much in this game that it can keep you going for a fair while.
