Songbird is a free and open source music player with many built in features. Songbird uses gstreamer for audio playback which supports many formats including mp3, Vorbis and also DRM protected files such as WMA on Windows. It also supports AAC and Fairplay on Mac OS X.

Songbird will import your ITunes library or files from your hard drive or even usb devices such as memory cars, sticks and harddrives. Songbird is actually built using the same code that was is to create Firefox

Other features included with Songbird are flexible playlists, inegration with Last.fm Scrobbling, built in 7Digital Music Store access and album art. Songbird also has a built in web browser which is used for getting information on any album or artist you are currently listening to.

Another handy feature is the addons. The addons allow you to add extras beyond the default features. One such addon is an Ipod synchronisation addon. This allows you to manage your Ipod library easily and allows you to either manually add files or automatically sync your media library.

Because Songbird is based on Mozilla (as wirh Firefox) it also has a built in web browser. The browser has typical features such as tabs and bookmarks.
