Advanced Strategic Command - Free futuristic turn based strategy game

Availability: Microsoft Windows Linux

Advanced Strategic Command is a free turn based futuristic strategy game in the same vein as Blue Byte's Battle Isle games.

If you are not familiar with this concept, Battle Isle was a planetary war game set in the not to distant future. The game was played on a hexagonal grid of varying maps. There were various objectives such as wiping all enemy units of the map or capturing enemy facilities.

Battle Isle was played in turns and there could be 2 or more players in the game. Each player would take their turn by moving units and attacking objectives. Each unit had different statistics such as how far it could move, it's firing range, fuel capacity, etc. Also different terrain tiles had different features and allowed different abilities such as giving you more cover if a unit was on a hill or hidden in a forrest which could be used to a tacticul advantage. Also weather affected how a map plays, for example snow would slow down movement of vehicles.

Based on these units abilities and terrain types would determine what the outcome of a battle between two units. For example if player 1 had a tank in a forrest and player moved a unit past this square, which would not show the player 2 on their go where the unit was, then player 1 would initiate suprise attack

Advanced Strategic command is a faithful imitation of this concept and features many units and buildings. Advanced Strategic Command also has a play by email option which makes for intersting gaming.
